Darcy Quick had a passion to serve Jesus Christ in any way she could. As a result of this passion, Darcy touched lives wherever she went. In her journey, she spent two summers at Lake Retreat in 2002 and 2004, working on the waterfront as a lifeguard and teaching swimming to campers. She also spent many hours in the craft shop and loved helping the children to grow in the Lord. Not only did we benefit from her work, but also we are told by her family that Lake Retreat had a big impact on her life.
Tom and Eleanor Quick, and daughters Darcy and Amanda, in the past attended both Bethany Baptist Church in Puyallup and Temple Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon.

Darcy, a member of the Mt. Rainer National Park team, fell into the arms of her loving Savior while on a hike in the Park on June 16, 2006. A friend and teammate is quoted as saying, "She talked every day about a closer relationship with God. She is closer to God now than any of us could dream to be here on earth."
Survivors include her parents, Tom and Eleanor Quick, a sister Amanda and her husband, Jeremy Andrus; grandparents Bob and Norma Quick, and an Aunt Nancy and Uncle Brian Kirkpatrick, along with many other relatives and loved ones.
Her parents and a number of her family members visited Lake Retreat, first to remember Darcy and to see again the place that had made such an impact on her life. They asked the question, "What can we do that will be of help to the camp and can be a memorial to Darcy? We shared three projects that needed help. They decided to help with the completion of the Craft Building first. Funds also could be designated to buy additional boats for the waterfront and for a Scholarship fund in her memory.
|
Anyone wishing to donate to these Memorial Funds should designate the fund. Lake Retreat will advise the family of your gift. Send your gift to: Lake Retreat Camp & Conference Center, 27850 Retreat-Kanaskat Rd. SE, Ravensdale, WA 98051.
There will be a dedication Service of the Craft Building in Darcy's memory in June. The exact date will be given in the future in our monthly eNews.

| Calling All Volunteers! |
 |
 |
Wow! Has this winter in the Pacific Northwest been extraordinary! As I look at Lake
Retreat and see it reflecting the clear blue sky like a mirror, it is hard to believe
that just a few weeks ago, the wind was screaming through the trees, blowing down limbs,
flying rubble and brush everywhere. We were out of power at Lake Retreat for nearly
six days, and as I was huddled under my covers for warmth, the last thing on my mind
was the need for VOLUNTEERS. Now that the weather is being a bit more manageable, it
is time for Lake Retreat to get a face-lift.
This month, we were blessed by Don and
Linda Staggs of Puyallup, as well as our ever faithful Jim Cook, who spent many hours
clearing the debris and detritus of our winter from the camp, as well as working on some
construction and maintenance projects. In the near future, we have some painting,
planting, building and cleaning projects planned. About 14,000 people use Lake Retreat
Camp and Conference Center during the year, and we depend on our volunteers to help us
manage all those extra hours of necessary upkeep to keep our camp running. One of the
necessary projects this year will be repainting the whole campus exteriorly. I encourage
you, when God places on your heart the need to give some of your time for His Kingdom,
please remember Lake Retreat. We welcome volunteers of all ages!
