Mission Experience

The one-year Adelphia experience culminates in a life-changing two-week mission experience. Partnering with proven mission organizations like Youthmark Ministries for in-depth training and experiences, Adelphia students will learn hands-on what it takes to plan for, prepare, and carry out a successful mission venture.

It’s a unique opportunity to be a real-life missionary. You will prayerfully discern where God is leading you to go; you’ll learn how to raise up and maintain a faithful team of prayer and financial supporters; you’ll anticipate and prepare for your trip, while maintaining responsibilities and ministry at home; you’ll learn how to plan—from packing lists to prayer teams to passports; and you’ll take away the eye-opening, life-transforming experience of serving and sacrificing for the work of the gospel. It’s an unbelievable opportunity, and a distinctive of the Adelphia experience!

Mission Training and Trips
Every Adelphia student will gain a greater perspective on the mission of God through the church by participating in the spring mission trip and training.

In the fall term the students will begin the process of discernment in choosing their mission trip for the spring (the last two weeks of the spring term). All factors of the trip will play a part in the discernment process (cost, location, calling, team aspects and travel). By the end of the fall term a location will be chosen by each individual.

In the winter term the students will begin the training and funding process for the spring mission trip. Training will be done through Youthmark Ministries and emphasizes a “mission here, not just there” approach. Students will be instructed and encouraged to live on mission in our own community.

In the spring term students will complete their training and funding process and finalize the on-the-ground plans for the the actual mission trip.

Costa Rica with Youthmark
Youthmark partners with Costa Rican nationals to join God in the work already happening throughout Costa Rica. Youthmark’s primary goal is to train the Costa Rican nationals for Mission51, so they may reach their own people with the Gospel. Mission work will likely include.
•    Leading a Mission51 Retreat at a camp or retreat center for Costa Rican teens
•    Teaching English at local schools
•    Painting and minor construction projects for churches and schools
•    Preaching and teaching in churches

Bithlo with Youthmark
Youthmark partners with United Global Outreach (UGO) which ministers to one of America’s most unheard of economically depressed settings. Bithlo, Florida sits only a half hour away from “the happiest place on earth” yet you’d never know it by the look and feel of this marginalized community. Youthmark’s primary goal is to come alongside the work already being done by God through the local church and UGO, mission work will likely include.
•    Minor construction, painting, and general clean-up projects.
•    Youth outreach to the teens of Bithlo
•    Children’s ministry in the park
•    Educational opportunities for women and children
